It is permitted that the “Full-contact” attack to all of a body by empty hand and bare foot without the foul work. But it is forbidden that the attack to a face by empty hand. |

| Judgment method |
If another player was knocked down more 3 seconds or lost his fighting spirit by your attack (“Tsuki”, “Keri”, “Uchi”, etc.) without a foul, you can win as “Ippon”.
But your attack is judged as “Waza-ari” if another player stand up in less than 3 seconds or you have action to another player who fell down. The twice “Waza-ari” has been “Ippon”.
As the case may be,“Tameshi-wari” and the difference of players' weight have been important factors to judge a game. |

The “Full-contact” rule was introduced by Kyokushin-Kaikan at first.
This rule accepted the “Full-contact” attack without protector except gripping and the face attack by the empty hand. It was completely different in the history of Karate.
Therefore the “Full-contact” Karate was called an ultimate sport-combative in those days.
This rule does not accept the face attack by the empty hand therefore the splendid kick work progressed. Till then, the scramble for the point by punch work was main in a game of Karate. But very showy “Kumite” match developed by the “Full-contact” rule.
Moreover, this rule by direct blow has often also induced showy “Knock Out”, therefore the “Full-contact” Karate got the explosive popularity for the young age group. And the “Full-contact” rule produced many spectators of the Karate match. This rule was looked on as a wrong course of Karate before. As it had been adopted by many schools as well as Kyokushin-Kaikan, the “Full-contact” Karate has become a permanent fixture as one of the Karate style now.
The “Full-contact” rule has variations which accepts the grip work and the throw work, or the “Non-contact” face attack by some schools.
As the “Full-contact” rule had ripened like sport, the tournament of “Full-contact” Karate has been more hardness to win in the national tournament for many players who is not in the environment to strive a exercise and such like weight training. But the “Full-contact” Karate has became popularized to open many tournaments for kids and women and seniors on the other hand now.
